WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Open World Leadership Center welcomes Senator E. Benjamin Nelson (Nebraska, 2001-2013) as Chairman of Open World’s Board of Trustees after Secretary R. James Nicholson stepped down on March 6, 2018.

Senator Nelson has served on Open World’s Board of Trustees since 2016. Senator Nelson brings executive experience, knowledge of the program, international experience, and the sound judgement required to guide the program on issues that arise in an ever uncertain political and fiscal environment.

WASHINGTON, D.C. —Today, Open World Leadership Center welcomes its sixth delegation of Senator Ben Nelson Fellows composed of six medical doctors from Russia. Open World’s Board of Trustees created the Nelson Fellows program to honor Senator Nelson's contribution to Open World and improve ties between the United States and Russia. Senator Nelson served on Open World’s Board of Trustees since March 2016. From 2009-2012, Senator Nelson served on the Board as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch.

WASHINGTON, D.C. —Today, Open World Leadership Center announced grant recipients for 2018. Open World awarded grants to 11 non-profit organizations across the United States to further their programs for international exchanges.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — At the recommendation of the Board of Trustees, Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, announced the appointment of Jane Sargus as Executive Director of Open World Leadership Center, effective January 8, 2018. She replaces Ambassador John O’Keefe, who will now serve as Counsel to Open World’s Board of Trustees.
