COIL Hosts First Regional Judicial Alumni Conference in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Washington, D.C. — The Congressional Office for International Leadership (COIL), an agency of the U.S. Congress, is excited to host its first regional judicial alumni conference on June 16 and 17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The conference will bring together over 100 Open World alumni judges from Armenia, Estonia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Mongolia, Serbia and Uzbekistan to discuss judicial independence and court digitalization. Open World local host coordinator, U.S. Federal Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, and member of the International Judicial Relations Committee of the U.S. Judicial Conference, Suzanne Mitchell, will participate in the conference from the U.S side. In Ulaanbaatar, COIL is proud to partner with the U.S. Embassy, Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mongolian Judicial General Council, the Supreme Court of Mongolia, the Mongolian Constitutional Court and the Mongolian Judicial Training Academy to host the conference in Mongolia’s capital.
COIL, a Support Agency of the Congress Founded in 1999 by Congress, the Congressional Office for International Leadership maintains a vast network of more than 30,000 alumni in partner countries. It’s Open World Program supports legislative diplomacy efforts for Members of Congress by conducting exchanges that establish authentic communication and enduring relations that are maintained through its extensive alumni network. Program participants are provided with exposure to the work of Congress, American politics, accountable governance, and volunteerism while being home hosted by American families.
