Strengthening Security: Local, State, and Federal / Drug Enforcement and Policing
This program focuses on empowering local law enforcement agencies to promote public safety, build trust, and overcome challenges. The program provides law enforcement professionals with valuable insights into effective U.S. policing practices and drug enforcement practices. In turn, U.S. lawmakers and security experts are presented with alternative and new methods for addressing these mutual challenges.
Parliamentary staffers will benefit from observing first-hand how U.S. legislative staffers and committees manage draft bills, assess the effectiveness of legislation, provide oversight of budget processes, and engage stakeholders such as constituents. They will also benefit from learning about the mechanisms used in the U.S. for strengthening the capabilities of civil servants, including training, mentorship, and connections with subject matter experts.
This program will deepen institutional ties between the U.S. and Armenian judicial systems, facilitating the exchange of best practices in areas of mutual legal assistance, extradition, and the prosecution of complex transitional cases. For Armenian judges, the experience will provide valuable insights into the U.S. judiciary’s approaches to managing cross-border evidence and ensuring judicial independence in high-stakes cases.

The Legislative Program connects members of Congress with their legislative counterparts from partner countries, fostering direct engagement between these parties on governance and policymaking. Through meetings and discussions in Washington, D.C. and in communities across the U.S., American legislators gain firsthand insights into the political landscapes of partner countries.
