Uzbekistan - Legislative Program

Members of Parliament

This program will provide parliamentarians with an opportunity to engage with federal and state legislatures and explore the structure, function, and practices of the American legislative process.  Through meetings with legislators and legislative staff, participants will gain firsthand knowledge of how state laws are drafted and adopted in the United States. This program will allow the members of parliament to build connections with their counterparts, strengthening ties between the legislatures.

The air in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, is among the most polluted on Earth. This program will explore ways states and cities have worked to improve air quality and reduce air pollution.

Access to water and competition among national/regional governments, private/public sector bodies, and industrial groupings is a major issue in Uzbekistan (and Central Asia). This program explores how American states and municipalities manage issues pertaining to water supply. The program also explores U.S. best practices for water management improvement.
