WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Open World Leadership Center, a legislative branch agency, is pleased to welcome former member of the House of Representatives David Dreier to the Open World Leadership Center Board of Trustees.

The Open World Leadership Center, a Congressional agency working to increase international understanding and partnerships, is guided by Trustees consisting of the Librarian of Congress, two members of the Senate, two members of the House, the chairs of House and Senate Appropriation subcommittees on the Legislative Branch, and four private individuals designated by the Librarian of Congress.

Mr. Dreier also brings to the Board of Trustees his valuable knowledge of the critical role of the Legislative Branch in Foreign Affairs. He was the founding Chairman of the bipartisan House Democracy Partnership, which works to strengthen legislative bodies in new and reemerging democracies on five continents. In addition, Mr. Dreier was among the longest serving members of the House Leadership as Chairman of the Rules Committee, spearheading major institutional reforms and structuring the debate on public policy issues considered by Congress. Mr. Dreier currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Tribune Publishing Company.

Founded in 1999 by Congress, the Open World Leadership Center maintains a vast network of more than 28,000 alumni in strategic countries including Russia, Ukraine, and others in the Balkans, Caucuses, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Open World supports legislative diplomacy efforts for Members of Congress by conducting exchanges that establish lasting professional relationships between emerging leaders and their U.S. counterparts.
