The Open World Leadership Center Brings 4,000th Participant from Ukraine

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Open World Leadership Center (the Center), an agency of the U.S. Congress, welcomes six delegations from Ukraine this week focusing on a variety of issues including Education and Public Policy. Among the arrival of these groups, the Center is thrilled to welcome its 4,000th participant from Ukraine with Ms. Kateryna Yatsura, the Director of the Web Communications Center at Karazin Kharkiv National University.

Ms. Yatsura developed the university's policy on web communications in the realms of education, research, and public information. She is directly involved in the modernization of the city of Kharkiv’s scientific and educational infrastructure and has extensive experience in coordinating international and regional communications and educational activities.

As an active young leader, Ms. Yatsura has coordinated many important projects including the International Sociocultural and Educational Project supported by the U.S. Embassy held as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the United States.

After orientation in Washington, D.C., Ms. Yatsura will be hosted in Cincinnati where the Cincinnati-Kharkiv Sister City Partnership will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary on October 18, 2019.

Founded in 1999 by Congress, the Open World Leadership Center maintains a vast network of more than 29,000 alumni in strategic countries including Russia, Ukraine, and others in the Balkans, Caucuses, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. The Center supports legislative diplomacy efforts for Members of Congress by conducting exchanges that establish lasting professional relationships between emerging leaders and their U.S. counterparts. Program participants are provided with extensive exposure to American politics, accountable governance, and citizen diplomacy, while being home hosted by American families.
