Open World Welcomes Members of Parliament from Ukraine

WASHINGTON, D.C. —Today, Open World Leadership Center welcomes Members of Parliament from Ukraine for a 10-day professional program. After an orientation in Washington, D.C., delegates will be hosted by WorldChicago in Chicago, IL from July 20-26.

The delegation of five includes four Members of Parliament and a senior legislative staffer. Delegates are Mr. Oleksandr Chernenko (Member of Parliament, Petro Poroshenko Bloc), Ms. Olena Masorina (Member of Parliament, People’s Front), Mr. Ruslan Sydorovych (Member of Parliament, Self-Reliance), Mr. Vladyslav Holub (Member of Parliament, Independent), and Mr. Ostap Kryvdyk (Special Adviser on Foreign Affairs to the Speaker of Parliament for Ukraine). The group is accompanied by Ms. Oksana Semenyshyn, a bilingual, bicultural facilitator from Ukraine. Delegates are participating in Open World’s Members of Parliament program that covers transparency in government and constituent engagement.

While in Washington, delegates will meet Sen. Chris Murphy (CT), Sen. Steve Daines (MT), Rep. Doug Lamborn (CO-05), Rep. Peter Roskam (IL-06), Rep. John Moolenaar (MI-04), Rep. Sandy Levin (MI-09), Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (NE-01), and Rep. Adrian Smith (NE-03). Delegates will also meet with staff at the offices of Sen. Richard Blumenthal (CT), Sen. Chris Coons (DE), Sen. Marco Rubio (FL), Sen. Ben Cardin (MD), Sen. Chris Van Hollen (MD), Rep. Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Rep. Mike Conaway (TX-11), and the U.S. Helsinki Commission. Rep. Fortenberry also serves on Open World’s Board of Trustees.

In Chicago, delegates will collaborate on best practices for accountable governance and constituent engagement. Delegates will meet staff of Rep. Rodney Davis (IL-13), Rep. Darin LaHood (IL-18), and local leaders in Chicago/Springfield Metro Areas.
